Energy saving solutions from Herschel at the Scotland Innovates event

The Energy Saving Trust’s event focussing on new approaches to energy efficiency took place yesterday at Glasgow’s Science Centre. It’s objective was to raise interest amongst buyers & suppliers in the latest energy efficient & renewable products via the sustainable energy supply chain programme funded by the Scottish Government. This supports the Scottish Government’s ambition to decarbonise Scotland’s energy system and reduce fuel poverty.

Herschel was delighted to be invited to present to the audience of energy assessors, installers, architects, public sector buyers and designers and discuss case studies that demonstrate how our products can assist Scotland in its transition to a low carbon energy system.

BRE outlined at the event that ‘heat accounts for 53% of energy consumed by Scotland’s homes and businesses making it the biggest element of Scotland’s energy use and largest source of emissions’. Domestic sector space heating and water heating account for 74% and 13% of total household energy use.

In 2015, ~79% of homes used natural gas as primary heating fuel creating an open opportunity for energy efficient electric solutions to make a real difference.

Andy Baird, Herschel’s Director of Renewables Integration, represented Herschel on the Q&A panel and outlined how Herschel Infrared delivers an energy efficient, Lot 20 compliant, zero maintenance radiant heating solution that integrates with renewables to reduce a buildings carbon footprint, lowering emissions for Scotland in line with their Climate Change plans.

It was clear from the event that low carbon electric is the future for Scotland and it was fantastic to see a huge amount of interest in how Herschel can play its part in this future.
